The students in Mr Slater’s Engineercraft course have been working on tower build challenges in the physical and virtual worlds. In earlier sessions, students were given the task to build the tallest tower from paper and later on, spaghetti! They were tested for strength to withstand wind and earthquakes (ie. Mr Slater shaking the desk vigorously!!).

Students then teamed up to choose a famous landmark of their choice, research its features, materials and history and recreate it in the virtual world of Minecraft using an appropriate scale. Each build has created some deep discussions by the group, opened up new questions and created an avenue to provide constructive peer feedback.
