Chessmaster

Chessmaster provides the opportunity for beginners, as well as able players of chess to further advance their understanding and knowledge of this centuries old game of logic and reasoning.

This course will introduce you to new strategies and famous chess moves under the tutelage of an expert player, where ‘thinking ahead’ and ‘controlling the centre’ play an important role in gaining the advantage over your opponent.

Apply the rules and moves you have learned for pins, en passant, the three golden rules, castling the King and others in order to see how well your knowledge of chess and playing prowess has progressed in an exciting Swiss Competition. How is algebraic notation used to record your moves during a game?

Finally, you will be asked to research the history of chess and other board games before testing your creativity by designing and making a challenging game of your own to share with your peers.
