Course Overview
What makes someone a hero? Can a villain ever be justified? In this thought-provoking course, students will explore the complex choices, motivations and ethical dilemmas faced by heroes and villains throughout history, literature, film and popular culture. Through debates, case studies, creative challenges and inquiry projects, students will investigate questions of right and wrong, justice, power, responsibility and sacrifice. Students will analyse famous heroes and villains, examine real-world ethical issues, and explore how perspective can influence our judgments. Throughout the course, they will develop critical thinking, reasoning and communication skills as they defend their ideas and tackle some of life’s most challenging questions.
