Course Overview
Students step into a world where art, engineering and imagination collide as they design and program their own animatronic sculptures using the Hummingbird Robotics Kit, experimenting with sensors, coding, and mechanical design while stretching their innovative and critical thinking. Across ten sessions at Scitech, they’ll engage in hands‑on robotics challenges, test ideas through experimentation and refine their creations through real‑world problem‑solving. A behind‑the‑scenes tour of Scitech’s workshop will spark inspiration as they develop and pitch their own concept for a new interactive exhibit, strengthening their design thinking and persuasive communication skills.
This course is offered as either a morning or an afternoon session. All classes will be held at Scitech from 9:30–11:30 am or 12:30 – 2:30, except for 21 October session, which will be held at the Churchlands PEAC Centre.
