Course Overview
The Horrible Histories series of books and TV series explore gruesome and disgusting historical facts from around the world. Except that there isn’t much from Australia. This course explores Western Australia’s own gruesome past via excursions to the Western Australian Maritime Museum and Fremantle Prison.
Students research events in Australia’s history involving convicts, bushrangers, massacres and other “horrible histories”. Participants in the course publish their own version of a Horrible Histories book and may even produce their own Horrible Histories skit.
