Course Overview
Step into the strange, shocking and often gruesome world of history and uncover what life was really like from medieval times through to the Victorian era. In this course, you will investigate fascinating topics such as pirates, plagues, crime, punishment, slavery and castle life, using rich historical sources to separate fact from myth and exaggeration. You will think like a historian by analysing evidence, identifying bias and exploring how stories of the past are shaped and retold over time. Through inquiry, discussion and creative interpretation, you will develop your own version of a Horrible Histories text and may even script and perform a skit, using humour and storytelling to communicate complex ideas.
This course extends your thinking by challenging you to question perspectives, make connections across time and place and present your understanding in original and engaging ways.
